ummm…. 6th Gen fighters are already under development. I think we have enough F22’s and they are now over 25 years old as far as initial development and flew in testing as far back as 1997.

It’s actually an old plane compared to the Russian and Chinese stealth jets currently under development. Already the avionics are in need of updating. Also who knows the true extent of the crucial data the Chinese and Russians have been able to steal with well publicized hacking attacks, and use to compromise its stealth and fighting abilities.

Gotta move on. Best to use the funds for the next gen fighter… if it has a pilot at all.

That’s my take on the matter. No need for pilots in the aircraft any more. A plane without a pilot is cheaper, more maneuverable and much more expendable than a manned aircraft.

Put the money into next generation drones. It’s time the zoomies get grounded permanently.

Perhaps I’m prejudiced. My brother-in-law was a fighter jock whose preferred weapons platform was the F-15D. For a few years he worked on the F-35 project for the Marines, and he was not shy about praising the F-22 over the F-35. The F-35 may be newer, but it can barely get off the ground, from what I hear.

As for drones, I would prefer a real person pull the trigger. I don’t want warfare to turn into Ender’s Game.
